Karen grew up in North Texas.
She took vet tech classes in high school, became a Certified Veterinary Assistant, and participated in FFA Veterinary Science CDEs. She graduated from Tarleton State University in 2014 with a B.S. in Animal Science and a minor in Biology. In 2015, she moved to Iowa with her cat.
